Our Peloton monitor is always randomly turning on in the middle of the night (and the bike is in our bedroom). Why does this happen and how do I keep it from happening.
Riders who keep their Peloton bike in their bedrooms frequently claim that their Peloton tablet wake up in the middle of the night and disturb their sleep. This relates to the subject of whether the tablet should be left to sleep on its own or powered down.
If you simply walk away (and it goes into sleep mode in (10 to 30 minutes adjustable minutes) or TAP the power button quickly to put it to sleep, the tablet stays alert in the background and can receive software updates from the Peloton servers all day and night. The problem with this is that if your bike is in your bedroom, your tablet might wake you up in the middle of the night while it updates. The benefit is that your bike is ready to go when you are.
If you power down (hold down the power button a few seconds) and then select (POWER OFF – Do You want to shut down?). By doing these, you have turned off the tablet and you will not receive updates in the background. By doing this, your tablet won’t wake you up in the middle of the night. The only problem is that if you turn on the tablet right before a live ride, an update might start, and it might take a few minutes before you can join your ride. Many people find this very annoying.
